This picture was taken in Memphis, Tennessee in October of 1939. Marion Post Wolcott was the photographer. This picture was taken outside on some kind of street side walk. It looks to me like early morning or lunch time because of all the people who are out. This picture has a hotel that says "Hotel Clark. The Best Serivice for Colored Only." This definitly caught my eye. I find it very suprising that there was a sepreate hotel for colored people, it just seems ridiculous to me! There are people around the hotel and they are all African American, this must have been the colored side of town. Most of them are dressed nice in tux and hats. The street is in desent condition. The picture is positive because the people look like they are out in the town enjoying them selves. If i could ask the photographer any two questions i would first want to know what else is on the street. I would also ask what the people were doing, did they just come out of the hotel, was the service really good.

This picute was taken in Halifax, North Carolina in April 1938. John Vachon was the photographer. It was taken outdoors in the day time. There is one young boy standing by a water fountain. There is a "colored" sign next to him, meaning that the water fountain is only for colored people. He looks like might have just got out of school by the clothes he is wearing. This picture really caught my attention because it is so weird that they would have to have two different water fountains, one for colored people and the other for white people, its just something you would never see today! The building near by is the Country Court House. If I was able to ask the boy in the picture a question i would ask him how is made him feel to have to have a sepreate water fountain from the colored people. I know if I were him it would definetly bother me. I would also ask him what he was just doing and where he had just came from.

This picture was taken in Belzoni, Mississippi, in the delta area. The date was October 1939. The name of the photographer is Marion Post Wolcott. The man is outside of a movie theater during late day. He is an African American man, maybe on the older side. He is wearing a har and some sort of jacket. What really cause my eye on this picture was that there is a whole different enterence for the colored people. It just seems insane to me! He is entering a movie theater. This picture sets a negitive tone to me becaues the man looks upset, i would be too. It is out crazy to have a different entrance just becasue you are black. It also just has a sad look to it because of the way the shadows are set in the picture. If i could ask him a question i would ask what he was feeling like at that time. I would also want to know what the inside of the theater was like.
